Electronics Circuit Design
"We use four layer prints to reduce size and to achieve perfect EMI protection..."

The OS3 offers more sophistication and provides many more functions than its forerunners, Quinto and Orbit. The number of electronics components is almost double than what one finds on the Quinto. I was successful to place these on boards of even smaller size. The density factor was increased by over 100%. I think this best illustrates the state of the art circuit design which we master with our latest CAD tools.

To meet the ever increasing requirements of EMI (electromagnetic interference) protection we use four layer boards. One of the layers is solid ground to shield the leadless surface mount devices (SMD), a combination yielding superb EMI hardening.

Of course, EMI protection concepts begin already with the power supply. It accepts any voltage from 90 to 240 V, transients are suppressed, instabilities of the mains are fully controlled and no ventilator enforced cooling is required (except for the light on Vitrex).
The only circuit board which did not undergo conceptual changes is that which powers the instruments. In fact we are using the same proprietary output transformers as 15 years ago! So our customers can continue to use their existing Oertli instruments. This is part of our company policy: Oertli customers shall never enter a dead end road.
